When Prime Video decided to launch in Africa, they chose The Refinery as their basecamp for the full post-production of Ari Kruger’s The Shakedown, a dark comedy featuring a host of local stars like Carl Beukes, Emmanuel Castis, and Julia Anastasopoulos (known for her role in Tali’s Wedding Diary ).
We had rockstar editor Richard Starky on board, and our in-house colourist Kyle Stroebel gave the film a distinctive, high-end look. Rory Mark led the VFX team, skillfully crafting effects so seamless you won’t even notice them. Pressure Cooker Studios completed the film in style with a standout soundtrack and score. On release, The Shakedown shot to the top, claiming the #1 spot.
